A term used to describe both the price-gouging and the collector's attitudes when highly-limited slight variant that goes for significantly more is available. Usually this applies more when the variant is of a character that is unpopular or the general collecting community is uninterested in.

This originated and got its name from when the Bowen Designs Bucky Gold MB was released. It was highly limited and soon began going for many times its original retail value.

The Gold Bucky Effect has also been seen with the Cube Base Sasquatch and the Blinding Chrome Nova.
