Faux-Bronze is a painting technique used to give the impression that a resin piece is sculpted in Bronze. The effect has been used by various companies, but the most notable and widespread use of it is at Bowen Designs. The first Bowen Faux-Bronze piece was Bowen's Modern Hulk, painted as a commission for a Statue Forum member. Randy Bowen later adopted the Faux-Bronze paint application for other pieces, which led to re-releases of the following pieces:

The Faux-Bronze effect saves money on both the producer and collector's end, as the piece is still made of resin and costs much less to produce. The Faux-Bronze sculpts are attainable pieces for collectors, as all but a few people own the real Bowen Bronze sculpts, and they have regularly attained prices of 5 to 10 thousand dollars on eBay.

Dan Cope can be called the originator of Faux-Bronze, as his Modern Hulk painted Faux-bronze for a client of his inspired the line.
